Lee’s Egyptian Kitchen – A Cookery Workshop
Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 Feb 2025. 10am - 2pmA strong influence on Lee’s culinary experiments was the time she spent living in Egypt during the 1930s, when she was married to Aziz Eloi Bey. In Lee’s Egyptian Kitchen cookery workshop, we will celebrate Lee’s love of spices, aromatics & floral waters. Dishes cooked will include; Coriander Rice Salad, Mahlebieh (Ground Rice Pudding), and Persian Carpet.

All to be enjoyed, once completed, during a lunch with your fellow workshop attendees, at Lee Miller’s kitchen table.

Drawing with Light – A Photography Workshop
Wednesday 7 May 2024 11am - 3pmDrawing with Light, Pushing your Photographic Boundaries.
In this half-day workshop, with John Cole, you will shoot a number of short ‘n sharp assignments with varying themes, which will push the parameters of your photographic boundaries and help you to reach new levels of creativity with your photography.

Postcard Collage Workshop
Wed 21 May 2025. 11am - 3 pmIn this workshop, you will engage with collage as a creative outlet, making your own compositions to take home, while guided by highly experienced artist and instructor, Peta Taylor.
Like many Surrealists, Roland Penrose utilised the power of incongruity in his art making process by mixing media & imagery in his collage compositions. Picture postcards were central to this practice throughout his career.
With Peta, you’ll explore ways to access the bizarre and unexpected using rubbing techniques, drawing materials, postcards and various papers.

Flower Sketching Workshop
Wed 25 June 2025. 10am - 3 pmA workshop suitable for beginners and practised artists. Improve your observational and creative skills by sketching flowers and plants in the inspiring sculpture garden at Farleys House and Gallery assisted by experienced tutor Gilly Lovegrove.
You will receive individual tuition on how to approach flower drawing. We look at botanical artists from art history for inspiration. With an emphasis on observational drawing, we look at proportion, shape and texture; studying petal formations and leaf shape, bringing our drawing to life and discovering the beauty of garden blooms.

Summer Cookery Workshops in Lee Miller’s Kitchen
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7, 8 & 9 July, 2025. 10am-2pm.Lee Miller’s 1950’s fitted kitchen at Farleys is, to some degree, a time capsule, an Aladdin’s cave of ingredients and gadgets, which were all used by Lee over her many years creating and cooking. During Farleys summer cookery workshops, Lee’s kitchen comes alive again with conversation, laughter and delicious aromas, as participants exchange ideas and recreate Lee’s recipes using some ingredients and herbs from her vegetable patch in the garden.

Sound and Vision: A Poetry Writing Workshop

As writers we are always being told show, don’t tell. Film makers are experts at telling stories by showing, so what can we learn from them to improve our poetry?
In this practical writing workshop we will look at the similarities between poetry and cinema, study the techniques used by film-makers and poets, and use writing prompts based on them to produce new poems.

Autumn Foliage Sketching Workshop
Wed 22 Oct 2025. 10am - 3 pmA workshop suitable for beginners and practised artists. Spark your creativity by sketching and painting in the inspiring autumnal sculpture garden at Farleys House and Gallery assisted by experienced tutor Gilly Lovegrove.
We study autumn foliage from the garden and look at botanical artists from art history for inspiration. You will receive individual tuition on how to approach drawing foliage. With an emphasis on observation drawing we look at proportion, shape, texture and colour; studying seed heads, leaves, ferns and grasses – developing our awareness of the plants’ structure and bringing our drawing to life.
