Description
Souvenir : A poetry workshop about memories.
A souvenir, memento or keepsake is an object a person acquires for the memories the owner associates with it. The word comes from the French ‘souvenir’, which means to remember.
In this workshop we will look at how objects or photos from our past can evoke memories and inspire new poems. We will look at and discuss example poems by a variety of poets to identify various approaches and help stimulate your creativity. You will be given writing prompts to facilitate the use of the different methods we have examined.
We will also take advantage of the surreal art around us in Farleys galleries and garden for added inspiration on a journey into the marvellous!
Please bring some old photos or an object attached to your past or a souvenir to help inspire you.
Also: a pen, notebook, your eyes and your imagination!
