Farleys Yard Artists & Makers
Farleys Yard Artists & Makers is a community of independent artists, craftspeople, and creative practitioners whose studios and workshops sit within the working yard at Farleys House & Gallery.
Farleys Atelier
The Atelier extends the shared spirit of Farleys Yard into a dedicated space for gathering, exchange, and presentation. It offers a flexible setting for lectures, talks, workshops, exhibitions and group events, as well as intimate lunches and curated experiences.
Like the Yard itself, the Atelier is shaped by the same ethos of openness and collaboration: welcoming artists, thinkers, and audiences to come together in dialogue and discovery.
Available for hire, it is an adaptable space that serves as both a practical venue and a natural continuation of Farleys: where ideas are not only made, but shared.

Farleys YardWorks on the wall of Farleys Atelier
Currently on display within Farleys Atelier are a selection of works taken from Annabel Moeller’s Friends to Frontiers.
The full exhibition, and accompanying book, highlighted a career defined by Moeller’s sense of adventure, and one that has taken in an astonishingly diverse cast of characters.
The works selected for this showcase represent what can be said about all of Annabel’s work: her photography highlights a desire to tell the human side of any story with humour and determination.

The Aviary gallery is an artist led gallery and workshop space founded by Artist Nic Acaster in 2022. The recently added Micro Sculpture Garden is now maturing into a peaceful tranquil spot to experience art, bird song and pond life.
The gallery exhibits Nic’s art project called Walk The Plank, which follows her journey to repurpose a decommissioned Hastings fishing boat called Rosie Haze ‘RX320’ into art. Come and visit for a friendly chat and to view our collection of original sculpture, jewellery, paintings, stained glass, cards and gifts, all made in residence by Nic and silversmith Jo Kirby.

Rob Curley is a self-taught printmaker and artist based in Brighton, working primarily in linocut and relief printmaking. Since 2025, he has been based at his studio in Farleys Yard, where he continues to develop his practice, refining his skills and exploring new techniques. His work is inspired by his surroundings, capturing moments and scenes in time, and is also influenced by film and folklore.
Alongside his own practice, Rob is restoring and installing a historic Columbian print press in his studio. Originally manufactured in 1885, the press was used to produce newspapers and large-scale posters well into the 20th century. He hopes to return it to working order for use in his own work and, eventually, to run printmaking workshops.
Visitors are welcome to stop by and chat in person.

The yard continues a long-standing spirit of collaboration that has shaped Farleys since the time of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, who welcomed artists, writers, thinkers, and makers into their home and creative orbit.
Today, that spirit lives on through a diverse group working side by side: upholsterers, woodworkers, printers, artists, jewellers, cooks, and other skilled makers. Each bring their own practice and craft, yet all contribute to the shared atmosphere of creativity that defines the yard.
Farleys Yard is not simply a collection of studios but a living extension of the site’s creative history, where making, experimentation, and exchange remain central. Rooted in the legacy of Farleys yet firmly grounded in the present, the Yard Artists & Makers represent a continuing culture of craft, artistry, and collaboration that ensures Farleys remains a hub of creativity.
