With an exciting programme of events and exhibitions celebrating the East Sussex home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, we’ll be exploring the impact and inspiration that their home had through workshops, events, exhibitions and more!
We’re celebrating the 75th anniversary with the release of a new book, as well as a series of podcasts and video interviews that can be seen below. Alongside this, a wide range of exhibitions, displays, events and more are taking place across the UK and Ireland as part of the celebrations!
The Home of the Surrealists: 75th Anniversary Edition
This special anniversary edition of The Home of the Surrealists celebrates 75 years since Lee Miller and Roland Penrose got the keys to their Sussex home, Farleys with a Foreword by Joanna Moorhead, extra pages with new images and a final extra chapter about Farleys today.
Written by Antony Penrose, son of American feminist icon Lee Miller and British artist Roland Penrose this delightful narrative introduces the fascinating lives of Lee Miller; War Correspondent and Surrealist photographer and her husband Roland Penrose; Surrealist artist and co-founder of the ICA, whilst taking a tour of their extraordinary home in the Sussex countryside; where they played host to some of the greatest 20th-century artists.
The books is available in both Special Edition paperback and Limited Edition hardback.

Farleys 75th Anniversary: Collaborations
As part of Farleys 75th anniversary we’re collaborating with museums, galleries, and other artistic institutions across the UK and Ireland, exploring the impact and inspiration that Lee Miller, Roland Penrose and their East Sussex home had.
We’re thrilled to be working with esteemed venues such as the Victoria Gallery & Museum in Liverpool, The Hellenic Centre in London, The GAA in Dublin, Ireland, Petersfield Museum & Art Gallery, and many more as part of this project.
