From close friends of the family to artists who visited for inspiration, the series provides vital testimony to life at Farleys. Interviews include Claudia Ives, the daughter of Lee’s best friend Bettina McNulty, Richard Humphry, an artist championed by Roland Penrose and Georgina Erskine, who lived at Farleys with her mother, the housekeeper Patsy Murray.
Farleys 75 years, I remember…
Farleys 75 years, I remember…
75 years ago, photographer Lee Miller and artist Roland Penrose bought Farleys. From 1949 Lee and Roland filled it with their collection of contemporary art and were visited by some of the key figures of 20th Century art world. Many were personal friends, amongst them Eileen Agar, Picasso, Dorothea Tanning and Max Ernst.
Farleys is celebrating its 75th anniversary throughout 2024. As part of this milestone, we are hosting themed workshops, special events, and collaborating with museums and galleries across the UK and Ireland.
