Dreaming the Found

About this exhibition

Both 2D and 3D works included in this exhibition, Dreaming the Found, present a personal narrative that is mythical in content, sometimes playful and often revealing a darker sub-text.  Kathleen explores the elusive world of the unconscious by drawing out imagery from randomly created textures or found objects.

Chance and play are integral to Kathleen’s working practice and are used as a means of dislocating the every day in pursuit of the marvelous. The challenge then, once a glimpse of it is caught, is for her to draw it out and make it visible. Each work is a voyage of discovery.  The thrill of the unpredictable is the matrix of the journey.

Kathleen was born in South Africa. Her work is informed by African and Classical mythology, surrealism and her readings in prehistory.
