Portrait of Space

Portrait of Space

We learn of Penrose’s love of the three key women in his life, his passion as a Surrealist artist and later as a curator and biographer.

The Surrealist heyday of the 1920’s is halted by World War II. After the war Roland rose to prominence as Picasso’s leading biographer and curator. He and Lee Miller made their home in Sussex at Farley Farm where he died in 1984, still making his famous collages.

A Portrait of Space is the sequel to Antony Penrose’s highly acclaimed and award winning work on his mother, The Angel and The Fiend.
