A variant of this image was used on the front cover of British Vogue’s April Pattern book and this version was published with the article ‘New Clothes for old’ which encourages the reader to renovate old clothes into new ones ‘take plenty of time. Be careful over unpicking. Plan before you cut’ and ‘you too, can make from your unused clothes an outfit as smart as this.’ Published in British Vogue, April 1944, P42.
