A creative, fun workshop for the absolute beginner who is interested in the history of photography, and who wants to experiment with printing their own images to take home.

The workshop will take place in Farleys Galleries and Sculpture Garden.

Please bring your own packed lunch.

Description

Journey back to the very beginnings of the photographic printing process in this cyanotype workshop. Cyanotype printing was extremely popular in the Victorian age and is still used by artists today.

David Nix will teach you how to:

Make a dark, moody, antique style selfie on large format film (or a portrait of a plant if you are shy!)

How to sensitise paper with chemicals (the start of the magic!)

How to expose your negative and produce a wonderful cyanotype image, just as if you were a true 19th century practitioner.
