Autumn Foliage Sketching in Farleys Garden. Wed 22 Oct 2025 10am-3pm
£85.00
A workshop suitable for beginners and practised artists. Spark your creativity by sketching and painting in the inspiring autumnal sculpture garden at Farleys House and Gallery assisted by experienced tutor Gilly Lovegrove.
We study autumn foliage from the garden and look at botanical artists from art history for inspiration. You will receive individual tuition on how to approach drawing foliage. With an emphasis on observation drawing we look at proportion, shape, texture and colour; studying seed heads, leaves, ferns and grasses – developing our awareness of the plants’ structure and bringing our drawing to life. Surrounded by the tranquillity of the garden we further our drawing investigation and develop our studies into colourful creative compositions inspired by the burst of autumn colour.
Tea and cake will be served at 2.30 pm. Sketching materials and cartridge paper are provided. A suggested list of materials for working in colour will be provided on booking.
If the weather is inclement, we will collect in the garden and continue the workshop in the comfort of the gallery space.
A suggested materials list for working in colour will be provided on booking.
